Readers of the blog, welcome to my latest seasoning obsession. This make-your-own blend combines some of my favorite flavors that results in a totally crave-able powder that you will want to sprinkle on foods with wild abandon. Fennel seeds, dried rosemary, cumin, and coriander seeds all combine into a beautiful blend that’s herbaceous, slightly sweet and licorice forward, with a lightly earthy bite that makes everything it touches taste like an Italian sausage. Perfect for pizzas, pasta, lentils and beans, roasted veggies, tomatoes – honestly, I sprinkled a little on some cantaloupe the other day and even that was great. This seasoning is my go-to blend and my current flavor addiction, plus it’s super easy to make and stores well in a plastic bag for multiple uses. It handles heat well too – no need to worry about this burning on a pizza at high temps. Whip some up to bring new life to your spice cabinet!
Want a little riff on this? Add some crushed red pepper flakes to the mix for a Hot Italian Seasoning. You’ll thank me.
